Public hearing on closed hunting land in Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is proposing
several changes to increase the size and number of areas closed
to hunting. Tomorrow, March 1, hunters will have a chance to get
details on the plan. The NWTF encourages hunters to make their
voice heard.
Assembly Speaker Mike Huebsch (R-West Salem) says it is
important for sportsmen and women to be involved in the process.
"Over the last few years we have seen more and more public land
closed off to sportsmen and women," Huebsch said. "For the
future of our sporting heritage, it is crucial for hunters to
attend these hearings."
The public hearing will take place in La Crosse from 4-8 p.m. in
the State Office Building on Mormon Coulee Road.

This state does have some of the most rediculous laws and regulations. All the dnr cares about is raising our liscense's lowering the amount of places we can hunt, fish and trap. What can we do, its easy to sit and bitch but its hard to get anything accomplished.I have wrote the dnr many times about the price of the patrons liscense going up every other year and have yet to get a response.I say we keep our rates the same and start charging nonresidents a little more to hunt and the dnr can get there money that way.I'm not trying to start an argument with out of state hunters who hunt in wisconsin i;m just trying to help out my wallet.Thats all.

Is this the one"
March 1 & 7 – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will hold a series of public open house meetings to discuss proposed changes in areas closed to waterfowl hunting along the Mississippi River in order to make it easier for hunters to understand boundaries and to assure the same acreages of land will be open to hunting. A new U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service management plan has changed the boundaries on closed areas within the Upper Mississippi Wildlife and Fish Refuge. Those changes allow hunting in some of the federal refuge previously closed and close hunting in some areas previously open. Rather than a patchwork new federal rules would create, Wisconsin proposes changes to state rules so that only one closed area boundary will exist. This should be easier for hunters to locate. An open water hunting prohibition in Grant County waters in Pool 11, and all closed areas of interest to attendees will also be addressed. For more information contact Wildlife Biologist Mark Andersen, (608) 785-9994 or Conservation Warden Steve Dewald, (608) 785-9970. The remaining open house sessions all run from 4 to 8 p.m. at the following locations:
