Default Got a new personal best gar.

While wading the DesPlaines River today near Joliet, I only scored a single fish, but it was my best gar to date. Go Me !

41" Longnose, 6# 12oz
It doesn't even qualifyas a club citation fish, but it's a good one for little old me.
A mere 20 more pounds and I would have had the state record.

You gotta try to come up here Slim. That's pretty much all we have is longnose.

Thats a nice gar. I have yet to shoot a longnose. About 2 weeks ago I had a personal best shortnose. 4 more ounces and I would have beat the state record. It was 10lbs 2 ounces. I wouldnt mind getting into some longnose though. Where you shooting them at?

Rend Lake has nice longnose.

Chris, did you get the gar filleted out without losing any important appendages?

Way to go. Nice fish. I've never shot one that big yet, but I have several 50+ inchers on my data sheets. The Lamine River is a good place to go for big gar.

What Slim lacks in longnose quantity, he has made up for in quality.
