Default Clinton Lake 10/7/07

Well, I didn't make it to Clinton Lake Saturday night, but made it down last night with "Dead-Eye" Drew. We launched at the North Fork Access. We saw a lot of fish! We ended up sticking 13 commons and a golden redhorse. We saw a few quillbacks and buffs, but they were movingvery quick and didn't get many shots at them. Almost directly across from the boat launch along the west shoreline we saw a big buff, maybe in 20-25 lb. range. The "Ditch" didn't have many carp in it and was very shallow, but it had a million shad in it. May go back down this weekend.

Hope ya all are sticking fish or deer!

Mikey

Nice job. How much arm twisting did it take to get drew to go?

Not too much arm twisting for Drew. He did miss his first few shots and I was giving him some serious ribbing. I told him he was "out of shape". He ended up sticking the 2/3 of the fish though.

That big buff shot out of a tree right at us! Neither one of us had time to react. I think we may have been morestartled by the whole situation than anything! That fish was very wide! We noticed that most of the buffs and quillies we did se were coming out of trees next to the shoreline.

By the way the new battery worked EXCELLENT!!!!!

It's nice to see that the fish were in the North Fork branch because they were few and far between in the northern Parnell branch. That's as shallow as I've seen it. At times we were 25 yds from shore but in 6" of water. Some areas that normally hold fish were dry mud. We only put a handful in the barrel but we shot well and as always the food was great at El Reys and the company second to none.

Johnny B - Yes that's the battery I got from you! AWESOME battery! I still had plenty of juice when we got done. Thanks!

Rob - If you went a hundred yards north of that car bridge it was really shallow up there, too. We got stuck a couple of times. Most of the fish were in that area from the car bridge to the train bridge. There was a little sandy/muddy flat on the west shoreline before you got to the car bridge that was holding a lot of fish. The east shoreline immediately to the left of the launch was holding quite a few, too.

Take Care All,
Mikey

No accidental swims but a couple close calls though when we hit submerged trees!

I hear Rob went in on purpose.

(I guess the water is so low that they drove the wheels of the trailer off the end of the ramp.) []
