Default real bowfishermen

my hat is off to all of you real bowfishermen out there. with my boat being down for a week or 2 I thought i would go try it the oldfashioned way. I tied a chain onto my old 10 ft v bottom to drag it out of the trees and honeysuckle. after hotwiring a old 30lb troller i was ready. well i put it in a little slough about a mile from the housewith everything in it except the battery. bad idea. light, little boats move a lot easier-quicker than 20 ft ers. boat shot outfrom under me and i was wet to the knees. got battery in and had to shoot from the back of the boat to run the troller. My back still hurts from bending over to run it. only had 4 in of boat out of the water and wasnt very stable at that. I could not shoot to the right because i dare not move my feet. well the troller would pull me along a little faster than a snail but not quite turtle speed. but fish are still fish and i still done pretty good. got 17 gar 2 bowfin and 2 buffalo in 2.5 hrs. to those who shoot without gloves you are tough. I realize i am delicate like a flower but that is crazy.I left mine in other boat. i cut the heck out of my hands on the first 2 gar i shot. i soon realized it was easier to lay them in the floor of the boat and retie my arrow than anything. to those who do this on a weekely basis you truly love the sport.there truly are easier ways to kill fish. i realize i am SPOILED but turning back now would be tough. let the laughing begin!!!!!

i know how you feel my father and i do it out of a 12 foot flat bottom all the time. it is the only boat we have but we have our own little way todo it so it works pretty good.

I have a hard time picturing you on a boat like that Slim. BTW, I took my little 11 foot plastic boat out saturday. I had to push-pole myself around most of the time because my troller was too small to handle the weeds. When you want to bowfish, you do whatever you can to get off the bank and out on the water.
I'm glad someone out there realizes how hard it is for some of us to shoot fish.

What's wrong with your boat anyways?

Laugh? Heck no. I applaude you for not just sitting back and waiting to get your other boat done.
I bet you had a bunch of fun and will appreciate your fan boat even more.

Hey Slim,

Instead of ripping your fingers to bits and if you do not want to use a tab or a glove, there is a deal called "no glove". It is a great invention which is nothing more than two rubber tubes which slide over your string and you use that to pull back on.....It has saved my fingers countless times!
