Default How long is it safe to hang a stand?

I just bought my first tree stand, a King Kong from Gorilla. I am wondering how long in advance of the season I can hang the stand without worrying about the web belt rotting or giving out? Should I change it for a chain if I want to hang it 3-4 weeks in advance?

Thanks

I use the same stands. We hang ours around Labor day at the earliest. Hunt them worry free from October through January.

We put our stands up in July/August and take them down after the season. We inspect the straps, usually replacing them anyway (they're cheap enough) and look for any rust spots or any potential problems. I usually hang 5 hang-on stands each season. Have not had to replace a stand yet. Iuse two ratchet straps per stand for safety along with a full body harness.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I like the idea of a ratchet strap as backup also. I think I will do that as well.

I hunt private family land. I leave my ladder stands up year round. A few of them have been in the same location for a few years now. I do take care to check them over though. I've used some hang-on stands but I never use just the strap they provide. I always add another ratchet strap or two.
