I think what your asking is are there any advantages to using a color other than white? Many folks including myself prefer a red and now some use green lights as they tend to not spoke game as much as a white light.

The red or green lenses will also preserve your night vision. I use a Surefire G2 with the red flip up lense.

I have read somewhere that green light is the most visible light to the human eye. Also I have seen in person deer farmers using red/green lights and their reasoning was that deer don't see these colors very well. they would bring the deer into a headgate to saw of their antlers and vet applications. All the lights were either of these two colors inside the building they did this.

For those interested...Wal-Mart sells a 115 lumen led flash light, also w/red and blue lights for around $27. This is the first high lumen light I have owned and all I can say is wow!! For under 30 bucks, its a steal.

You might be surprised if you don't use a flashlight at all, your eyes adjust quickly to the dark. I don't use one at all unless it's cloudy and there is no moon or starlight.

It can take up to 45 mintues for your eyes to adjust fully, also if you are in thick woods, full moon or not, its dark
