I booked a hunt in the summer of '08. I need some advice.

If these loads are good enough for hog, where should I place my shots for the 45-70 and .

What happen?........You booked a hunt for Bison out west and then changed your mind?
I was thinking the same thing. Lol. Shot placement is the key. But still, big guns are fun to shoot. I shot all my hogs with a bow or pistols, but every now and then Ill pull out the 300 wby just for fun. And ive taken my share of large boars. Biggest was upwards 400lbs, but most are in the 150 to 250 range.

Knives work well to. Taken many with a knife. If you need a good hog sticker, Rev could hook you up with a very nice, hand made job.

i'm probably not as experienced as some of the guys on here, but i have had good luck with neck shots, either just in front of the shoulder or behind the ear. hogs are built a lot different from deer. the spine runs pretty much through the middle of the neck, and the vitals are low and farther forward. with a rifle i aim for the neck, bang flop, no tracking involved. with a bow i aim just above the "elbow". good luck, i think you will be impressed with how good eating they are.
