Advice on Hog Traps Needed
I noticed some of you have experience trapping hogs. Someone asked me to help them get rid of hogs on their land and I can't possibly shoot them all. Any advice on traps is appreciated. The cheaper the better. I thought about using pits since hogs used to fall in our dig pits at night back in college when we did archaeology field work. Have any of you used pits to trap them?

Haven't heard of pit traps but that sounds interesting. We use the 16 ft. stock panels staked into as large of a corral as you can afford with theminimum being three. Then a drop door at the entrance with thetrigger being far back in the trap to get as many hogs possible trapped at one time. Usually one or two catches and the remaining ones will not enter for months, especially the smaller traps. They will eat bait all around the trap and up to the entrance but will not enter even for the most delectable bait. They are uncanny!
