A friend of mine is selling his .44Mag Taurus raging bull w/ about 75 rounds, 300 pieces of brass, the dyes for reloading, about about 50 bullets, a red dot scope w/the scope mount for $650. Oh yeah it has a 6.5" barrel and it blued. So do you guys think this is a good deal or no? or he said he would sell the gun w/ the scope mount(no scope included) for $450. let me know what ya'll think.

I would say it is a terrible deal because it is a Taurus. Easily the worst guns that I have ever purchased\used.
Several years ago I purchased a PT111 Millenium in 9mm. When I got the gun it shot 2 ft to the left and 4ft low. I had several shooters shoot it just to make sure I wasn't completely out of my mind. I sent it back to them. To correct the issue (I was expecting full replacement) they bent the barrel straight. Yes the gun shoots straight now but my barrel gets scratched every time I fire a round. It is pretty damn ridiculous. I would never own another Taurus no matter what the deal is.

I would have to say pass on that deal. I think you could find a new Taurus Raging Bull in that cal for close to the same price. The dies would run you about $40 or so for a good set. Brass would be about $.25 each max. So, that would be about $450 for the gun, then $40 for the dies, $75 for the brass, and then some bullets, powder, and primers would put you right in the neighborhood of $575 or so. Then if you figure in the Red Dot, well that would depend on which brand, and how much it has been used. Some scopes just cannot stand up to repeated heavy recoil of the larger calibers, so it may work fine now, but a lower quality red dot is sure to break fairly quickly depending on how many rounds have already been shot with it on there.
Also - I would find out WHY he is selling it. Have you been with him shooting it? Do you know how it shoots? Is he tight for cash? Is the gun just too big for him? Or does it just not shoot at all, and he wants to dump it on somebody else because he is getting tired of trying to find a load for it? Definately some questions I would ask before sinking that much money into a used gun.

Definately NOT a good deal!!! Around here, you can pick up a used stainless Ruger or Smith for that same $450 or less and get twice the gun the Taurus is. And I've even seen some Ruger SRH in 44 with a scope mounted for $450. Its your money, but I'd keep shopping.

Id deffinately want to know why he is selling it, a buddy of mine sold his raging bull 454 casull because of the cylinders not lining up square with the forcing cone which was causing horrible accuracy and his pepped up loads were shearing off jackets upon leaving the barrel. I'd deffinately go shoot it before buying it, that gun should easily shoot accurately to 50 yards so shoot it off a sand bag rest at 50 yards if it doesnt shoot inside a pie plate there might be something wrong with it. good luck
