Default RE: Good Deal or No?

I would have to say pass on that deal. I think you could find a new Taurus Raging Bull in that cal for close to the same price. The dies would run you about $40 or so for a good set. Brass would be about $.25 each max. So, that would be about $450 for the gun, then $40 for the dies, $75 for the brass, and then some bullets, powder, and primers would put you right in the neighborhood of $575 or so. Then if you figure in the Red Dot, well that would depend on which brand, and how much it has been used. Some scopes just cannot stand up to repeated heavy recoil of the larger calibers, so it may work fine now, but a lower quality red dot is sure to break fairly quickly depending on how many rounds have already been shot with it on there.

Also - I would find out WHY he is selling it. Have you been with him shooting it? Do you know how it shoots? Is he tight for cash? Is the gun just too big for him? Or does it just not shoot at all, and he wants to dump it on somebody else because he is getting tired of trying to find a load for it? Definately some questions I would ask before sinking that much money into a used gun.
