I've discovered an old gun. I know virtually nothing about guns. On the barrel it says: Companhia de Cartuchos. Made in Brazil. Elsewhere, SS Kregge. It's a 20 gauge that folds between the butt and the barrel. Sorry for my lacking use of terminology. Then, it has the thing in the back to cock it.

Anyway, it's been sitting useless for 10 years or more. What do I need to do to get it in working order(I haven't messed with it)? How do I even fire this thing. You're probablygoing to say that somebody with as little knowledge as me shouldn't touch this thing. I'm not planning on using it but I'd like a gun in working order just in case I need it.

Will I need to take this to a gunsmith to get it fixed up? How much will it cost? What do I need to know about the firing/safety of this gun?

Yrs ago H&r and savage made this guns,and they were copied by some south american firms.they are a folded stock and action as you described.They unfold and the hammer is pulled back to cock the actiion then one can pull the trigger to shoot it. Clean it,and it should be ok,or spend money to have a local gunsmith clean it for you.They are showing up on the gunshows more so now days. I would believe its worth about $125-175 depending on its conditiion and how bad someone might want it.They were popular for backpackers,and behind the seat truck guns ect. have fun and hope i helped. vangunsmith

Can you post a picture. My dad has a 20ga like what you are describing is it very light and folds inhalf to the point that the fore grip (stock under barrel) is toching the but stock with a notch for the trigger guard? If it is like this then when my dad purchased his many years ago the guy told him it was acctually made by Beretta.

I would definitely suggest taking it to a gunsmith. It shouldn't cost ya to much if it just needs cleaned up and checked. I would also suggest attending a hunters safety course. A lot of valuable info is their on firearms safety and handling. And more than likely someone their can work with you, on your specific weapon. As long as you want to learn about it, it should come pretty fast and easy. Mostly safety issues and common sense. Good luck to you.

Under both the Kresge and K-Mart names there was a Model 151 that was really a Boito CBC. I can't find a picture of one folded but here is one closed up:

On the gunsmith cleaning, about how much is not very much?

The barrel has specks of rust on it. Is this a red light on condition? It's not very much rust at all, though.
