I would definitely suggest taking it to a gunsmith. It shouldn't cost ya to much if it just needs cleaned up and checked. I would also suggest attending a hunters safety course. A lot of valuable info is their on firearms safety and handling. And more than likely someone their can work with you, on your specific weapon. As long as you want to learn about it, it should come pretty fast and easy. Mostly safety issues and common sense. Good luck to you.
