My 11-87 Jamming !!
I bought a new 11-87 light contour 12 ga. last Dec. Only shot it a couple of times with buckshot maybe 10 times, no problems. Haven't shot it once till last monday, opening day of dove season. After about 5 boxes of shells it started jamming about every 5 shots. Went home and thought it might need some oil. I oiled it good, and it worked fine for the rest of the day. Today started out fine then after about one box it started again, then just stopped ejecting. The ejector slide sometimes comes back just a little then i have to pull the slide back to get the empty shell out. What in the hell is going on ??

Take the barrel off of the gun. Look inside the ring that is attached to the barrel. There should be two little holes inside the ring. Make sure these holes are cleaned out. This is just a guess. Good luck.

when I shoot a lot of trap , I have to take mine apart and give it a good cleaning . It will start to only half eject the case ,but I have never had it not open at all . The ammo could be some of your problem too .

I had the same problem with my 11-87super mag i found that you can't shoot light field loads if you do it will stop ejecting the shells.I started shooting heavy field loads and haven't had any more jamming or ejecting problems.Hope this will help.Good luck

Rusty,
Like you I bought a new 11-87, but in 20ga, and it would not cycle light loads at all. After a trip back to the Remington factory and 6 weeks later, all works well now. But, with the 12ga, or so I was told, you will need a different barrel to operate light loads. I don't know where the cut off points is but I'll bet the folks at Remington can tell you. I do know that on my 20ga they did polish the chamber so the hulls would eject better. Once the 11-87 decides to work it is a beauty to shoot. Shame Remington is letting so many guns leave the factory with so much work to do to them to get them to operate properly. Hopes this helps.

Well Ive got an Remington 11-96 Euro Lightweight. Its got the exact same guts that the 11-87's got. Anyway, I shoot trap and Just like the guy above, I have to take it apart and give it a good cleaning. Now when he says "take it apart and give it a good cleaning" he doesnt mean, take take the barrel off and clean the exaust holes, or just oil the slide tube etc. Take that thing TOTALY apart. this should be a normal part of every persons cleaning process every so often. I mean like take the trigger group out and use like crud cutter(by Birchwood Casey) and clean the whole reciever out. Drop all the mechanisms out and clean them and lube them lightly. Especially the ejector. makes me wonder why people dont clean thier guns more thouroghly. Its not too bad of a job, really.
Good luck
