Bronze brushes will not hurt a bore unless you let them build up with crud and then use them dry.The bronze is softer than steel but the impurities that contaminate them could mark steel.I clean mine regularly and throw them out when they get too worn.Do not use stainless brushes as it can mark barrel steels.
