I recently bought a Savage 99 in .300 Savage. I have shot 150 grian bullets from Win. and Federal and 180 grain Federal slugs. I get very good groups with the Win. 150s and the Fed. 180s and shot a moose with the Fed. 180s. I see some interesting bullets and loads in a couple loading manuals. What has anyone out there done with a .300 Savage? I see some fairly quick loads for a 130 grain bullet (2900 or 3000 fps) I would think that would be a devistating choice for antelope and deer.

Duffy, congrats on the new rifle. The Savage 99 is one gun on my want list I just don't seem to locate one at the right time. As for your question it sounds reasonable to me but I'd ask in the reloading section on this site and you'll probably get more answers quickly.

Actually I thought I had posted on the reloading board. I'll leave it here to as I'd like to here from anyone who has actually shot some things with their reload
