if you want to get a good 22LR go for it, but if ur only wanting to kill a birds or rabbits, a good airrifle would work, they shoot str8 enoft to kill a bird, and i have heard farts louder than the gun...and for the range....im not 2 sure, i dont have that much time shooting a air rifle, but im sure you could take down the FPS so that it doesnt kill buddie down the street, but if ur goin for a 22LR and killing rabbits is just for giggles, get a ruger 10/22, or a CZboltaction tranner

I know you asked for advice about 22's, but if you really want to control those birds feed them bread crumbs soaked in vodka. When they get too drunk to fly just pick them up and wring their necks. You will not have to worry about noise, any you miss will recover and fly away, and you can pick and choose which breeds you eliminate. Most any drinkable alcohol will work but vodka seems to work best.

i have a 10/22 my self its a nice rifle for doing wut u are talkin about but if there is alot of people by u i would suggest getting ur self a good pellet gun...even though u have to be careful with those 2.
