I know you asked for advice about 22's, but if you really want to control those birds feed them bread crumbs soaked in vodka. When they get too drunk to fly just pick them up and wring their necks. You will not have to worry about noise, any you miss will recover and fly away, and you can pick and choose which breeds you eliminate. Most any drinkable alcohol will work but vodka seems to work best.
