Default Ruger M77 30-06 sprg

I recently obtained a Ruger M77 30-06. I was looking for a very versatile gun which is pretty much good for most big game. Was this a good choice? Can someone tell me a little about this gun and what ammo (loads) seems to shoot best. I will be hunting deer, black bear, moose, and bossibly sheep and goat.

Thanks

Ive got a ruger m77 in .270 and it is my favorite big game rifle. Took tons of deer. I know it will shoot different than the '06, but factory ammo that always works good for me are speer and winchesters, but remingtons and federals dont seem to group quite as good.

You got a great all around rifle. I would stick with 165 grain premium quality bullets. Not necessarly expensive, just good quality. I have had great luck in Africa with my 30:06 and 165 grain Speer grand slams. Your gun will let you know what it likes at the target range.

I think you will like that rifle. I own a stainless version in 30-06 and it has performed flawlessly. The only complaint I have is the factory trigger was not up to my liking. I paid a gunsmith 35 bucks to do some trigger work and now my groups are much better. I now shoot mostly handloads but my rifle seemed to shoot Federal ammo very well.

Now you're talking my language. My "baby" is a Ruger M77 Mark II in .30-06. As soon as I save up the money to buy another one just like it, I'm going to shoot the life out of this one, cuz it's so much fun and so nice to shoot. I use Winchester supreme 150 gr, sometimes 165 gr, either balistic silvertips or powerpoint pluses. I can assasinate washington on a dollar bill from 375 yrds with it. I love it. If you do use the balistictips, get a hard bore brush and treat your barrel better than your wife, cuz they're coated with some nasty crap that will accumulate in your grooves and ruin a very accurate barrel.

NOMERCY, what are you talking about ballistic tips being coated with some nasty crap. are you shooting nosler bullets or the win. combined tech?
TWTD is your gun a mkII or a m77 ? i like the old m77"s with the tang safetys. the mkII's are nice but the i like the old ones .
