Winchester Model 12--- Value????
I've got an old Winchester Model 12, 30 inch, full, French Walnut, ventilated rib in what I call Great condition. I don't know the classifications but this one is still in great shape. It hasn't been used much for the last 40 or so years at all. I say great and not pristine as it was my Uncles. He was long and tall. It was made for him with an extra long stock with one of those adjustable shoulder plates. I had it cut and fit to my size(normal people) and had a rubber pad put in. Wood and bluing are in great shape. I'm not a gun nut and probably don't shoot one more than once or twice a year. I mostly bow hunt. If I have to have a shotgun I use my Browning. What's the Model 12 worth. Oh yeh, it's a pre 64 version, SN 1811020

I did a little looking and this is what I found out about your Mod 12.
Your Mod 12 was built in 1960 and may have been a trap model considering the vent rib and the adjustable stock it once wore. If that is in fact the case and if it were still in the original configuration you’d be looking at somewhere in the $1200.00 range…if it’s in excellent condition. By cutting the stock down to fit you….shave about 50% off of that price.
Since the gun is a family heirloom….priceless

Thanks Steel: I still have the adjustable stock somewhere in my cabinet. I guess I'll fix it up for some turkey hunting. That long barrell should reach out and touch 'em. It sure is a sweet pump action.

RE: Winchester Model 12--- Value????
Maybe I was misunderstood. The original stock is still on the gun. It came with this overly long metal adjustable butt plate thing that is adjustable for drop and left and right. I removed that as it was too long. I took it to a professional gun maker/toolman/designer/craftsman who was reportedly involved originally came up with the screw in chokes. Anyway, he cut enough off the stock to make the pull length right for me. It's not like he butchered the stock or anything. My uncle was a long dude. Someone in the Syracuse, NY Police Dept had this gun made to fit him as a gift. He did shoot some trap with it. There are no placs or anything on it to state that(which is good I think) but that's a little of the history. It is the Monte Carlo stock. It's not the cheap ribbed forearms you see on some of the older model 12s I've seen before.
