Big Earl, sounds like you are discribing the Remington Model 710.I've always liked the Rem 700. But from hearing all the problems with Remington lately. I think I would have to go with the Winchester M-70. Better still the Ruger M-77. Ruger Redhawk

I have shot the rem, the push feed win 70 and the new classic win 70. All three are good actions, I like the trigger adjustment onthe 700 best and can really smooth it up . But for the best overall action , the mdl 70 classic wins for me. Its extraction, bullet pickup, excellent smooth bolt movment and lock up, all the way thru, its just the perfect setup, and even the trigger group can be tuned easily.

I'll tell you what my instructor at Gunsmithing school told me. (Former head of the Army Markmanship unit at Ft. Benning)
Rem bolts are silver sodered on and the Win. 70 is forged. Accuracy is almost the same, depending on the riflesmith working on it.
