I've acquired a new 270 WSM
and I need a scope for it. I've narrowed it down to either the elite 3200 3x9x40 or the VX-II 3x9x40. I've had good luck with the Leupolds but I thought about trying to save some money on this one. Have not had much experience with the bushnells. What do you guys think?
Comparing the two....is the VX-II worth the extra $100? How does the elite compare?
I have not seen the 2004 VX-II's yet.
Thanks.

Of those two I would pick the Bushnell in a second. Great scope that offers a huge bang for your buck. Save your hundred dollars and get the Bushnell cause it is at least as good of a scope as the VXII.

Both are excellent scopes. I've now started buying the Elites instead of the Leupolds just to save a little money. The only time I buy Leupolds now is for heavy recoiling rifles due to the longer eye relief.

I have a new VX-II 3x9x40mm on my muzzleloader. It is an extremely nice scope, nearly as good as the VX-III's. So much so that the average hunter will never notice the difference. I would spend the extra hundred bucks and get the Leupold. They hold their value well plus the warranty can't be beat!

for the money I'd go simmons. Simmons has some real gunk out there. The cheapo stuff anyway but the aeteck and their whitetail series are very good for the money. I bought a refurbished 6x18x42mm with target knobs made for an air rifle. It was advertised fogproof, waterproof and shock proof. So I put it to the test. I put it on my 7rem mag. 1000 rounds later it is working very well. Oh yeah it was $100.

I would not hesitate to lay out the money for the Aetec or the Bushnell. I have a couple VX-l and Rifleman csopes from Leupold and a M8 4X33. I kind of hate to get more than 200 bucks into a scope because I have had perfect performance from scope costing half that price. I might save up some money and get a new Shepard scope. That range finder Shepard scopes works like you wouldn't believe.
