I was looking at the Tikka when I bought my 270WSM in the winchester rifle. I had just finished reading a reloading report on the 270WSM by Layne Simpson. He did all of his testing with a tikka and a Savage rifle. The barrels were the same lenght but for almost all the loads he tried the Tikka velocty was about 200 fps behind the Savage. Both guns were very accurate. I know thats just one set of rifles but it turned me off a little to the Tikka. I didn't want to wait for the Savage accu trigger but may pick one up later. Can't wait for some good weather and to try some handloads in the Browning. I love the 308 but have been without one for some time. (Due to stupid trades)

Bigcountry,I don't have the stainless but have the stalker in blue, with only trigger adjustment and filling the stock with foam,it has been a shooter,I like the composite stock on it.It is in the 270 wsm cal.shooting 130 gr bullets at 3250 fps. These are 100 and 200 yd groups,The 100 is showing difference in col and the 200 is shot with 2 different bullets 130 sst and 130 spear. For out of the box rifle it shoots pretty good.

Great report herman. I am trying to get away from my current mentality, that every gun I buy has to have a 350 dollar stock on it and a 300 dollar barrel. I plan to order the ss/syn in a few days.
Power, totally agree, I really liked the older Tikkas. The continental and whitetail was great guns. I understand the business plan they got. If you want good quality, go with the 1000 dollar Sako 75, but if you can't afford that, get a Finnish gun for 500 but still doesn't tarnish the rep of Sako and they get to get into the market share of people wanting a 500dollar or less gun. Very smart.

Thought you mite want to see this since you are going to get the browning.Went to the range this morning since it was so pretty to work on my savage muzzle loader and took my 270wsm because I had just put a mil dot scope on it,it is the first one I have ever tried, but I don't think I did too bad with it.I posted this pic on the short mag site too. After I get the hang of the mil dot I think I might get the groups a little tighter.Shot three 3-shot groups at 1,2 &300 yds, also shot one more group at the 300 using a sst 130 but they were 2 inches to the right of the dot for a 2.41 in group. The 100 yd group was almost as big as the 300 yd group, but the 200 was one inch.Think you will like the browning ss

I've had my Browning A-bolt II Stainless Stalker 30-06 for a few years now and really love it. It seems to like any bullet I put through it such as Hornady's 110gr V-max, Speer 125gr TNT hollowpoints, Speer 150 - 180 gr Hot Cor, Nosler Ballistic tips of various weights. I have been pretty happy with all of these bullets grouping at under 1-1/2" Imagine if I had the time to actually play with the BOSS on this rifle! No complaints about this gun at all!!!

I've found that the settings that Browning gives on their website may give the best performance with one or two bullets near the same specs, but most of the numbers are just a starting point. I would expect that 30/06 to not be unlike my 270 stainless stalker w/ BOSS. I can get sub 1 MOA with better BOSS settings. It does make a difference with all cartridges I've tried so far with varying degrees. With 130 grain winchester power point it was very significant for my gun.
