How should I go about weather proofing my walnut stock on my Tikka Whitetail Hunter? I am particularly concerned with the area beneath the receiver/ barrel/trigger area. Thanks!

Do not use pure boiled linseed oil. It never dries and continues to seep into the wood farther and farther. It could eventually, depending on how much you apply, get under any bedding that you may use and cause it to come loose.
The best thing is to apply a very thin layer of Accra Glass inside the barrel channel. If your barrel is free floated then wrap one or two layers of masking tape around the barrel and then apply the glass in the barrel channel. Take precautions so that you do not get any glass on the outside of the stock, by taping it up, or down into the action inleting with some modeling clay.
