Hathcock used a Win Mod 70 Target rifle in 30.06 during his first tour in Nam.
Then used a Rem 700 in 7.62 NATO (.308) when that was issued.
His opinion of combat sniping was that his target was the 36" from the belt up to the chin down. Interesting how we get so caught up in 1" or 1/2" groups etc when one of the greats considered his target to be 36 inches.
He did shoot a 300 mag but that was in competion not combat.

Oh, Cisco, I thought you was suggesting which for the man to get. So you work in law enforcemnt in Southern MD. I wonder if you know any of my friends who also does simular type tactical work. They work out of Annapolis for the Controller.
GA, wouldn't really consider it "interesting", we are just haveing a good time working on perfection. I mean, its our pasttime and hobby.

i read an article in American Hunter years ago, and it stuck with me . After extensive research, tests and field accounts, they said the .308 was THE most accurate .30 caliber round....keep in mind that the article is now over 10 years out of date, but they had a TON of research to back up the statement.
just adding to the confusion...
