Default savage replacement barrels

I have seen that you can easily replace the savage barrels on some of their models with out a gunsmith. I was wondering if you could switch a regular barrel with a bull barrel. I know it won't fit the stock, but I am planning on getting a custom stock. I have a model 110 in 243. I want the bull barrel for it. Also I have heard that you can change the trigger out easily. Is the accutriger available after market?

Yes, you can.

No, and according to Savage they have no plans to make it available as aftermarket. From my understanding you couldn't just install a Accutrigger anyways since the receiver is slightly different to allow for the safety mechanism of the trigger.

Hey frizzellr,

How much you want to bet it was "designed" that way? They want to sell new guns....not retrofit older ones. And I suppose one can't blame them!

I am sure they were designed that way so they can get rid of those WSMs they are stuck with.

As long as the bolt face and feed rails are the same for the particular caliber you want to rebarrel to corespond with each other. I.E., .243,
.7-08 .308, .358, .270, .30-06 etc.

for hunting calibers, .243, .308, and .7-08 are great short action choices. Otherwise, 25-06, 6.5-06 .270, 8mm-06, and my favorite choice, 338-06 would be great. I cant see any problems with this.
