Personally, of the one's you listed I would get the ADL.

But if I was in your shoes, I'd seriously consider a Rem Model 7 or Mountain Rifle. .243 is a great round, with proper shot placement deadly as can be. I used to be a non-believer, but my son has used one the past 8yrs (since age 9) and it sure puts em down just fine. 7mm-08 is a nice round too, and certainly not too much for your daughter to handle. I might lean towards that just for the additional versatility that cal adds. Either one will kill whitetails just fine.

Well, Bronko, I am lucky enough to own 3 family farms, a bit over 850 acres...

And, here in NC we have a very generous limit, all the does you care to shoot and 4 bucks in the eastern season...

Frankly many seasons I've killed 15-20 a year...Those that think that is too many don't farm...When you see over 50 deer in your soybeans or peanuts then you would make sure you took plenty of does as well...

All these deer are utilized, don't waste any...We have plenty of people that love to see me pull up with a couple of deer in the back of the truck...

Well Hawkeye my apology. I just assumed you were a guy who just shot deer because you could. We have some guys like that around here that shoot 4, 5 or more deer a year just because they have the tags for them. Then they have so much venison they are begging people to take it and they end up throwing it out because of freezer burn. But then they are the first to complain about not seeing deer where they used to hunt.
We also have farmers here that just shoot the deer for crop damage and let them lay. At least you're utilizing them and not wasting them.
Again my apologies. And if you need any assistance I would be willing to help you out. That is if you think my 7-08 can kill them.

Yeah, I love mine in the 700 Mountain Rifle!

Only prob with the .260 is there's not enough rifle options out there.

Tealboy, I here good things about that 783. There are others posting for you who know more than I do, including one who I think is a gunsmith, so factor that in.

That said, if what I'm hearing on the 783 is correct, you're looking at a great deal for the money.

Talking

I also own a 243 and a couple 7mm08's. I will not say that one kills better than the other. Of course I hand load my own recipes for both and shoot both a lot thru the year.
I love comments like proper bullet placement used when talking about The 243.
Seems to me that is the object with what ever round you use from the 22 center fires to the 300 magnums. Yes there are a lot of people who use 22 center fires, Just read a article this morning on what a great round the 220 swift is on deer. Of course it was wrote in the late 1940's.
Wouldn't think any hunters I know that would aim for the butt of a deer just because they were carrying a 300 Wetherby mag.

That right there is one of the problems in the world of hunting today Al. Too many guys think they have a magic super duper magnum and can hit a deer or elk anywhere and it will be a bang flop. They think that proper bullet placement can be made up for with the bigger magnum power. They also seem to think that just because they now have this magic magnum they can shoot out to 700 yards as easily as they once did 100 yards. All that being said, proper bullet placement is key BUT proper bullet size, weight, and power is most definitely second. I can take a .220 swift and place it behind the ear of a whitetail all day long and twice on Sunday but that does NOT make it a PROPER caliber to be whitetail hunting.

In the .243 vs. 7mm/08 competition, the 7mm/08 will win hands down in ALL factors of whitetail hunting. Longer range capability, heavier bullet options, better sectional density options, and dang near the same recoil as the .243. I own both cartridge choices in a various assortment of rifle configurations and have dropped tons of deer and hog with both. Yes the .243 will kill a deer just as dead but in all reality, with a heart lung shot, the 7mm/08 will have a faster effect because of the size and power difference. That's not to say that the .243 is ineffective and shouldn't be used. I've used it, all my kids have at one time or another used it and it's a definite deer killer. Either choice for his daughter would be fine.

I couldn't have said it better. Both good deer cartridges but the 7mm would get my nod too.
I personally have got the nostalgia bug and although I have several bolt action rifles I have succumbed to the graceful lines of the lever action. My favorite deer / black bear rifles these days are my Marlin 1895s in .45-70. (a Guide Gun and a Cowboy) A bit much for deer but a genuine black bear thumper.

.270 Rem semi-auto with a 130 grain would be perfect for your daughter, now and when she enters adult life. Very little recoil in that rifle.
