This might be cheating but how about a T/C Encore with a half dozen or so replacement barrels. A 22/250 for coyotes and a 7mm/08 for deer and such and a 45/70 for moose and a 25/06 for sheep and pronghorn and a 20 ga. for birds and bunnies and a .35 whelen just because.
Or a combination gun in 12 ga. and 30/06 over and under.

Ultra Light Arms with a Swarovski PH scope. Caliber....????? 35 Whelen, 358 Norma Mag, 250 Savage.....maybe.......7mm WSM. I don' t know what caliber, but I have started saving for the rifle. Wish I could have a small bore and medium bore. Might have to put another 100k on the truck to accomplish this though.

i am going to get some flack about this but i own one of my dream guns already. it is a customized browning a-bolt in .308. mcmillan stock, krieger barrel #7 contour 1in11 twist, moyer trigger stoned to about 1 1/2 pounds, leupold vari xIII 6.5x20x50mm scope(dnrsports.net 520.00 dollars), dual dovetail bases, action trued, pillar bedded, tack driving machine. this gun shoots in the .4' s and .5' s easy. and if i could hold it steadier it might shoot tighter. i shoot this gun exclusively at the range and sometimes take it to the field for ground hogs. i love it. my next project is an a-bolt 300 win mag, and an a-bolt 270wsm. i am thinking of having the 300 chambered for the 30-378 if possible and doing everything to the 300 that i did to my .308 adding only a muzzle brake and going with a #4 contour lilja barrel for elk and long range target practice. havent quite narrowed the barrel down for the 270 wsm either pac-nor or krieger. the rest will be the same as the previous two. the browning fans on this page have got to be drooling, and maybe even some of the remington and ruger fans will too.. thanks guys i hope that one day we all have a many of the dream guns as our safes will hold. keep the threads coming they have been great.........

FN ' 98 action, sporter weight match grade barrel chambered for .338/06. Stock would be one of those Zero Inc. laminated walnut stocks, similar to laminated wood but looks like one piece of solid walnut. All metal given a matte blue finish exce[pt the bolt which woyld be polished in the white. Trigger set at 2-1/2 lbs.
Scope would be in the 1-1/2-6x range Leupold or Swarovski.
Leaving out something but that' s the basics of it.

What is this ultra light stuff? if you like to shoot you dont want a feather weight and if you are in reasoniable condition a rifle with enough weight so you can shoot it well should not be a problem. If a rifle is light enough to beat you up on the bench you will never shoot to your best potential.

It is Ultra Light Arms. Owner is Melvin Forbes, his shop is in West Virginia. I like the rifles because of their reputation. Very strong, accurate, reliable. I can carry a heavy gun 11lbs, but why. Lighter is faster always, you can carry a lighter rifle longer. I know we are talking about a differeance of a couple of pounds, but it is true. As far as accuracy his guns are VERY accurate, are they one hole shooters probably not, but you don' t need that type of accurracy for 99.9% of big game hunting. They will shoot more accurate than most shooters can. As far as bench rest shooting goes, once you get your rifle sighted in with the load you will use for a particular hunt you should LEAVE the bench rest shooting alone and shoot in modifde FIELD shooting posistions. These reduce " felt" recoil (except for prone)and it is what you will use when shooting at game anyway.
I talked with Melvin last week he tells me they make several .338 win mags a year hardly a rifle with a timid reputation.
