I've got a Remington 788 Bolt Action that my dad gave me when I was ten. He got it used 33 years ago, extremely reliable, never had any problems. However I don't even think that they are made anymore, but if you could find a used I think that would be the ticket, like I said I love mine and it's been used pretty hard the last 30 to 40 years without any problems that I can remember.

The Savage 340 and its other variations in Stevens and I believe JCPenney. They where pretty good guns with descent accuracy. About the only real problems that I had with any of the 3 that I have owned has been the clip needing to be bent a bit to keep the bullets feeding properly. You can usually find them at pawn shops and used gun dealers. Some even came with factory peeps. Most bolt guns have been chambered for 30-30 at one time or another, mostly those made up until about the 60's from what I have read. The biggest benefit to using the 30-30 cartridge in a bolt gun is that you can handload pointed bullets in them.

How about a 97D (single shot) from E.A.Brown?

Like said above,A 788 (which can be a little pricey now if you can even pick one up) or the 340 savage. You can load spire point bullets and up the performance .Just was a little tough to load for for me to start with.Kept colapsing those thin ass cases.

I have a Savage 170 pump/slide action. These too are no long being made but a great gun nonetheless.

The NEF/H&R single shots are a pretty darn good rifle. Any of the ones with rimmed casings are pretty reliable and accurate. I have had the 340 Savage as well as a pump 30-30 and still see them at gun shows. Their are still a few 788"s in 30-30 at gun shows or you could have one built for a decent price. I believe I would just opt for a 308.
