Default H & R Ultra Slug

I have the H & R Pardner and purchased the .20 gauge rifled ultra slug barrel. I have read a numerous times these guns shoot the hornady SST's well. I cant get a good group at 100 yards, I am pulling my hair out trying to sight this gun in. I am going to change my scope from a Barska huntmaster (cheap) to the Bushnell Banner. Anyone else have issues with their H & R?

Save your hair. I think I posted a response on your other post. I've read more into the USH's (mainly because I'm interested in getting one). Guy's are getting good groups with the SST's, Lightfield Hybreds, and RemingtonCopper Solids. If you can spare the extra $$ I'd look real serious at the Nikon Pro Staff 2x7x32 muzzleloader/shotgun scope. Then get you a box of each of the slugs I mention and shoot at 25 yards for a group. See which one groups the best and work with dialing in your gun with those. Regardless, If your trying to set up a slug gun, your USH, 870, or 500you have to try out many different slugs to find out which brand shoots the best.Good Luck.

I think you are doing the right thing in getting the banner. I've heard decent things about the banner and I have the Nikon 2-7x32 that sjsfire speaks of above. My Nikon has worked great so far. I would def. recommend one, but the banner should be better than the barska. Also, make sure you try the coppersolids, sst's or the Lightfields like was reported above. I personally use the SST's and like them. Might try the two others (Lightfields and coppersolids) after this season to see how they compare to the SST's. My gun is ready to go. I just can't wait for bow season to start onOct. 18th here in NY. Shotgun starts Nov. 15th here,so I'm goingto shoot my H&R one more time closer to season. Hopefully I will get the opportunity to use the H&R on at least one deer. I'm excited to see how it performs!!! I feel like it's christmas!!!
