Ed, I've seen the SBE's, but have no need for a 3 1/2" autoloaders. I don't waterfowl hunt. And I use my 835 for turkey hunting.

Understood.

Here's my experience, for what it's worth...
I have retired my Browning Upland Special (over & under 12ga w/24" barrels)
with the Benelli SBE (26" barrel), that's how good this gun fits me. It's a personal preference.[&:]
I initially bought the Benelli for Turkey and Ducks, seeing it's a supermag, and since owning it for the past two seasons the Browning has collected dust.
I have also bought a Hasting - rifled choke and tru-glo sights for the Benelli,
to hunt shotgun zones and works well (2" @ 75 yards).

I looked at the 935 at the same time, with the dual barrel purchase, but just couldn't put the Benelli down.
I figured I will have this gun til I drop dead, so a few hundred dollars, too me, was worth the lifelong investment.

I have a Rem. 1100 and a Benelli M1 field both in 12 gauge. I love the Benelli for the duck blind and have used it extensively in SD for pheasant. However, I will also be buying a new Semi-Auto next year and without question I will be buying a Winchester Super X3. My buddy just bought one and I shot numerous rounds out of it and I love it. Smooth shooting and lightweight with the recoil of a 20 gauge due to the (Browning) gas recoil system. It also has a dura shield coating on the barrel to prevent rust much better than bluing.

He picked his up for $789.00

I did find a used huglo 601 yesterday and the price wasn't bad. I may consider buying it. Although, I didn't shoot any worse with my 835 than with my ithaca on our Monday dove hunt. And by the way, we had a blast dove hunting. Didn't shoot a great percentage, but all got our limits.

I love my Super X3. I have the 3 1/2" model and my father-in-law loves it so much he went out this past weekend and bought the walnut field 3" model. You can pick that one up with in your price range.

I forgot to mention that my buddy bought the 3" synthetic SX3. I agree with many that say the 3 1/2" is overkill for what you are doing and also a waist of the extra $.
After years of building my collection of guns, and making some mistakes, the most important thing I have learned is to save longer to get better quality. The SX3, the M90, Browning Silver, Beretta URIKA etc are all quality worth the money.
