oldelkhunter,
I'm not about to say mine are the best, because there are several auto's on the market now days that will best them. However, I have two old Rem. 1100's (20 ga.), one was bought in 1975 and one around 1988. Never had a problem with either. With all the Remington bashing I've been reading on the forum I'm not sure the quality is there anymore.

The only thing or things I don't like about my 1100's or 11-87 is this rattle from the seals, and loading in a hurry needs practice. Your got to hit that bottom feed just right in a hurry to hit that small metal tab. And lastly, i have been duck hunting and have broke that gasket. Bad day. Other than that, great gun.

Here are the ones I like. Fastest of the fast is the Franchi AL 48 1st. Benelli Montefeltro 2nd. Both are very light, thin, and very quick pointers. The Franchi is 1.5" shorter than the Monte in overall length. Others that are not quite as fast but very good also. Benelli M1, Beretta AL391, Browning Gold, or Franchi 620.

Oldelkhunter,
I bought my wife a Franchi AL48 a few years ago and she loves it. it is extremely light weight, points goods, functions flawlessly, and is a beautiful shotgun. I did have to cut the pull back to 12.5" as she is only 5-4, and 110 lbs. The AL48 is recoil operated like the Browning A-5, thus the recoil is about as much as my wife wants to handle. But she is comfortable with it for a 100 or more rounds in a day. The Beretta's and the Benelli are certainly worth looking at and considerations as well. I don't think you could go wrong with any of these 3.
