The 30-378 and 7.82warbird do offer more power than the ultramag but at the cost of very expensive brass and very limited rifle selection.I have fired a trg-s in 30-378 and was not impressed with the accuracy. The recoil was also noticeably harsher than my 300 ultra' s.

Browning made the 300 um in stainless stalker and in the medallion model a-bolts. They discontinued it the year but the stainless ones are all over the net for sale. Most are brand new, dealers are trying to get rid of them. I got a medallion about 2 months ago brand new for $150 dollars off of msrp. Yes they have the detachable mag. I hope this helps!!

Thanks everyone. I do like the Browning so that might be an option but they do cost a bit. I really like the det. mag. on the Rem' s since they are external and the Browning is attached to a hinged floor plate (I have one in 7mm RM).

Anyone have a link to buy the Howa or Tikka? Most of the searches I' ve found on the net have come up short.

skeeter and stubble, you guys rock as I' ve known from past correspondence with you both. Been gone from the forums for a while (got in trouble at work for surfing so I quit cold turkey plus they used to take forever to load a page ) but now I' m back! At least when I' m not at work .

Thanks again everyone.
