Has anyone noticed how it has seemingly came from obscurity to being chambered in nearly everything in the last 5 years? How many other catridges languished as long as this one did before taking off? I never seen one in the woods until 2004 now I see quite a few of them. Ths is obviously a fine cartridge but it sure did take its time taking off. Was this another case of Remington giving up on its ideas nearly immadiately or what? Glad it has taken off as it is one fine ride...

Remington typical marketing FUBAR slowed down the sales on this cartidge and the fact that the 7x57 is the same thing in a different package. No need to have a 280 if you own either of the 2.I still prefer the 7 mags for the new enhanced bullet resistant Whitetail running around out there.

There are so many good deer cartridges out there, that no one would ever come close to agreeing as to the"perfect cartridge." But, if everyone wrote down what a "perfect" cartridge for deer would be, then someone puts this majic cartridge together for us and we all test it out hunting...... When we pulled off the blindfolds, we'd find that we were shooting a
7MM-08!

OR the 308, Or the 260. A lot of good cartridges based on the 308. And then there was the 243[:'(]

I think it took awhile to catch on because of the name of 7mm. There was a lot of negativity surrounding the metric system when I grew up.. No one wanted to use it..

I don't really think it took that long to catch on.... I heard about and read about them back around 1990 or 91, and bought one in 1992. Remington Model 7 in 7mm - 08 and although I own about 8 or so deer rifles, that one gun has been my primary hunting rifle since I bought it. It has accounted for about 3 / 4 of my kills.

Soat least some of us have been on the band wagon ... or even leading it, for quite some time...

The 7mm08 offers everything as .308,but with less recoil, and flatter trajectory while doing so foor deer sized game.
