I'm the proud owner of a new Sako 75 30-06. Reading through the owner's manual I came across the section on the single-set trigger mechanism. "For use as a normal single-stage trigger, squeeze rearwards in the normal fashion. The trigger mechanism can also be "set" by pushing the trigger forward until it stops. The rifle can now be fired with only a light touch." The factory set trigger pull is approx. 3 lbs, with the set trigger it's 7-9 oz.
Has anyone used this feature? How has it worked for you? I've attempted to test this out on an empty rifle, but haven't succeed in pushing the trigger forward. Maybe the rifle needs to be loaded, maybe I'm just not getting it.

Congratulations on your new Sako. You have one of the finest and most accurate factory built rifles available. As for the single set trigger, not all Sako's have it. It is available as an option on most models. It's likely from what you describe that your rifle has the standard single stage trigger. It's not a feature generally desired on a hunting rifle but would be an advantage for target or bench rest shooting. gg.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know the feature existed at all until I came across it in the owner's manual. My first reaction was "that's kind of neat". It was followed by "that's kind of dangerous".
Can't say that I'm sorry I don't have it. Don't think I'd really want that in the woods.
