Keep in mind that the bolt head does lock into the barrel and remains locked until you pull the trigger and all of this happens in miliseconds.

It rotates and locks much like a bolt action rifle but as soon as the hammer reaches a certain point it releases the bolt. This is (was)why the 1300 is marketed as the speed pump. The bolt head unlocks and the recoil of the gun helped the shooter cycle the pump faster than on other pump shotguns.

When you do not hold on to the forearm on a 1300the bolt and forearm will slam into the rear of the receiver.

ORIGINAL: bigbulls

It could be the scope and mounts but....... The 1300 is called a speed pump for a reason. The rotating bolt headdoes not lock up the same way other shotguns do. When you pull the trigger it releases the bolt head and allows it to move rearward. If you are not holding on to the forearm when you fire the gunthen you are allowing the bolt and forearm to slam very hard into the rear of the receiver.

The reason behind this is to allow the shooter to cycle the gun faster than many other pump action shotguns on the market.

You must hold on to the forearm when firing a Winchester 1300.
DITTO!!!

I have the very same gun and it loves the 2 3/4" Lightfield slugs. At 75 yards, it can keep all the slugs inside a 3" circle, but when moving to 100 yards, it all over the paper???? It's my 75 yards and less gun!!
