I know that its probably not the best choice but its what I have and I am sure that it is capable of doing the job if I put the bullet in the right place.
I was planning on shooting the Remmington 170g CORE-LOKT as it shoots well out of my lever gun. Is that a good choice? I am open to other suggestions and I look forward to your input.
Thanks,
HH

I don't know anything about bears or bear hunting, but on 200-300 lb. Texas hogs, the new Hornady LeverEvolution 160 grs have worked great. Every one that my son and I have killed have been complete pass thru and have dropped on the spot.

When i was a kid, my dad took me out to a high spot in a big blueberrymarsh, waaay before daylite, and sat me by a tree to wait for a bear to come along. Ihad a30-30 loaded with 170 Rems in my hands, as i leaned against that tree waiting for daybreak....
I probably sat there 1/2 hr.before it started to break daylight, and it was absolutely "dead quiet", no wind or anything... I sat there quietly, and all of a sudden several grouse flew out of the tree i was leaning on!!!Idamn near filled my pants... ha ha ha
I'll never forget that day, ever....
