Remington nylon
Over the years, I have aquied many and only got rid of a few. One gun that I'm sorry that I let go of is the remington nylon. Quite an ugly .22 but it sure was god for rabbits. Easy to maintain and always fired well. For some reason I just whated a .22 with a wood stock. (now have 5). Now I wish I never let go of that odd gun.

I never thought they were or are ugly. I guess beauty is in the eye of the bea holder. When I first saw them in an ad in an Outdoor Life mag. as a kid I thought they looked great and they may have been the first gun I fell in love with. I never owned one till a couple or 4 years ago when I bought a 66 semi auto at a gun auction. It is more than just a gun to look at, it is suprisingly accurate and has put a few rabbits in the stew pot for me.

I bought one when they first came out. It was the Black with stainless barrel. I shot countless bricks of 22 shells through it. When I left for the service I left it for a buddy to use and he shot the heck out of it for four years. When I came home I got it back and used it for another 10 years. I then gave it to a nephew and he is still shooting it. Only problem I ever had was that O broke the little lever off that you pull the bolt back with. It cost about two buck to fix it. Great gun. Probably the equal of the 10/22 in every way.

Bought one from a pawn shop while stationed in California.Had the SS barrel.Shot many a Jack Rabbit with that gun - mostly at night down some dirt roads in Mojave Desert.Got rid of that one for some reason??
Ordered a new one with blue barrel from the Base Exchange sporting catalog.I really liked those 2 guns - great gun for the money - about $50-60 - as I recall.
Seems guns are like cars. The ones you got rid of 30+ yrs ago are the ones you kick yourself for getting rid of.Particularly when you find out they are now collector items for whatever reason. Oh Well

RE: Remington nylon
young,
The new Rem Nylon 66 I bought in 72-73 could be bought for the price JB stated.(I believe that was the correct model name??)The used on was about $35-$40.
I bought alot of new and used .22's back then.Cheap to buy and shoot. You could own a top notch .22 rifle for about $150..22 Handguns even cheaper. .22 is still my favorite caliber particularly Auto Handguns.
I have couple mouldy oldy gun catalogs laying around. If I can remember I'll pull one out and post some prices.

I bought mine in either 1962 or 1963. Back then I made 1.25 per hour working in a service station so it still took some scratching to come up with the money. About that same time my dad bought a new Ruger 22 pistol for 39.95. Gas was 30 cents a gallon in town and 19 cents a gallon on the farm. A case of beer was less than 5.00. Mickey D's hambergers were 14 cents. In trhe winter wwe could sell jack rabbits for a 1.00 a head which beat working.

Sorry if I offended any when I used the term ugly...perhaps a better term would be different. It was a semi-auto with a brownish-grey on the black plastic. I bought it second hand in 86 for $10 and sold it in 2000 for $100. But as I said, I wish I still had it.
