I'm looking for a new stock for my 870. I see a lot of these ar-15 style collapsible stocks for shotguns now. Anyone use these before; and if so, can a collapsible stock like that really hold up to a 12ga's abuse?

It will be able to handle your 12ga. shotgun. No problem. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Don't go cheap here.

Most of the ones I've ever seen look like they'd be real tough on your face after the shot. I've always though of them as more of a 'tactical', head up type thing, only there totransfer the recoil into your shoulder instead of just your hands. Never really tought about hunting with one.

the 2 major makers are Advanced technology gun stocks and Knoxx. knoxx are more expensive...also make one with a recoil buffer.

im putting one on my turkey gun. if i cant get the knoxx in camo then im going with the advanced technology...they make one in camo. seen it advertised but not on their site yet...

I've had an Advance Technology colapsible stock on my mossberg 835 for three years and I have no problems with it. You can adjust the lenth to your best length. And it holds up to the 3 1/5 inch magnums just fine. At $50 it's a bit high but I would not go back for nothing now. Love it

I had an Advanced Technologies 4 position on mine and hated it. Quality was decent just didn't fit me worth a crap. Now for about7 years I used and abused an Advanced Tech. top folding stock and LOVE it. I sold my original to a friend for more than i paid and then ordered that 4 position and needless to say the top folder is coming back. I shot some heavy loads, dropped it, banged it, and in general abused it. Just my old everything/truck gun.

I took my Mini-14 in for some work and when I got there my gunsmith was putting one of those stock rigs with the adjustable AR style butt stock on a buddy of mine's sks and I asked her about them and addressed the issue of them failing and she said that once you set it you could prettywell count on themif you get a good one. It makes sense, if they're designed to fit a certain firearm one would like to think they would be able to hold up to it.
