Any Remington 710 shooters

RE: Any Remington 710 shooters
If you go back a month or so ago on this forum there were several posts about the Remington 710.I have never heard so much negitive talk about any other rifle as the 710.There were a couple of people who liked it but that was few and far between. Your friend would be much better off paying a little more and get a Remington 700, Ruger M-77,Win Mod70. Savage makes a inexpensive rifle. The Remington 710 would be my last choice. I looked at one once. The bolt was rough and very cheap .The gray stock looks cheap. The barrel appears to be pressed in and not replaceable.Over all I would rate it very poor.Ruger Redhawk

If he wants a cheap gun that can't be rebarreled let him buy a Nagant; $50 at a local shop. It's cheap and can be set up with a stock and scope mt. kit. for about $80. Add a cheap scope at $50 and he saves about $100.

i think remington sold a majority of the company to jennings or bryco. there quality really is really poor these days. my buddys model seven had a chunk of the finish on his floorplate just flake off. it is like it was just paint. a $600.00 dollar gun !! i called remington to get parts and expressed my dissatisfaction with there current quality (and the iss lock system) . the lady said they have been getting a lot of calls like mine. stay away from the 710.

A buddy of mine has one and I asked if I could try it. It is definatly a cheap gun but has knocked down everything I have shot at with it. Killed one doe from about 215yds and she just dropped right there. The scope he has on it, I guess came with it, that is pretty much a piece of junk. It is allright I guess but again, you get what you pay for.

I bought one right before deer hunting season this year...luckily I had a shooting range in the back of the lodge. I had to dial that thing in 20 clicks to the left in order for it to hit the target. Now I guess this has more to do with the scope. I must say that I had a kill on a doe from about 50yds that hit right where I was aiming. I think for someone who is on a strict budget it is not too bad of a gun.

I handled my first 710 tonight. The dealer and I just looked at each other as I worked the bolt and shook our heads. The commission wasn't worth the guilt he'd have after selling me that thing. The bolt didn't slide very smoothly. it actually took some effort. It was hard to close the bolt on an empty chamber, let alone a tight fitting round. The fit wasn't right for me, either. The metal parts were kind of cheap looking and the stock was the worst part. It's totally thin and hollow and not that flush with the action. I didn't like this gun at all. Maybe it shoots well, but I'd take a Savage if I were going to go cheap. Now that's a solid gun.
