I see so many people under the age of 21 getting one for killing deer, and I have to ask why?

michigan, I have a feelin I have doing long range shootin a few times more than you. Maybe its not me who is not getting it?

You may have done more long range shooting, whatever it's not about shooting at all.

Your still not understanding what I'm saying.

You asked why young people were getting big ass calibers to shoot deer correct?

Why do theyget a hot rod to commute to school and back, they like power and usually alot of it even if it's not a logical choice.

Sorry you got offended

You are certainly right about that. Most of the people that own 300ultramags and that don't practise a lot can't shoot them well at all.

Your all right. I have a 300 RUM and dont shoot it very much. Prob 4 or 5 times a year. But i shoot ALOT. Atleast 3 times a week for long range shooting and between 4 to 6 times a week for pistols. Ive shot alot of guns from 17 HMR to a 50 BMG and i feel im good enough with any of them to successfully take any game that im after. I dont go using a gun thats way overkill for the animal im hunting.

I don't understand why people think that a 300 ultra is such a monster. I've shot several of them in everything from a rem 700 to a browning a bolt and they just don't kick that bad. I mean you don't want to go plinking with them, but for that matter I wouldn't want to shoot that much with a 270 either

Its just your more of a man than the rest of us.

I am not putting down the round. I have made some incredible shots up to 600 yards. But 37ft-lbs of recoil is quite a bit. I bet I have shot 2500 rounds thru a 300RUM. You get some nice 200gr matchking loads kicking at 3150fps, you can feel thump.

I had to be in the mood to shoot it.

I currently am working on a 300Win mag, and am surprisingly getting 3100fps with 180gr BT. I can't say it has near the thump. I can shoot it all day.

Come on guys! That is way too much gun for a whitetail. Shot placement is much more important.
