Default 7mm Ultra Mag

I am having difficulty finding 7mm Rem.Ultra Mag ammo. Anyone have any suggestions? I assume the Rem Ultra Mag will not take a Rem Mag??

Correct, they are totally different cartridges. There is only one factory load for the 7mm RUM, 140 grain Core Lokt Ultra from Remington. It's a good load though.

If you look around you can still find factory loads from the past few years.

The 7mm RUM is a handloaders round. I would advise loading your own, or finding someone you trust to load you some. I've had great luck with the Hornady Interbond in it.

There are still some of the old loads out there other than the Remington 140 gr. Core-Lokt ultra. Try Natchez Shooters Supply, Midway, Graf & Sons, Cabelas, Bass Pro, & the otheronline retailers. This will be your best bet. However, you could look to someone like Conley Precision Cartridge. They load custom ammo and have many load options available. I think you have to order at least $100 worth of ammo for them to accept your order. Also, take a look at Noslers Custom Ammo they may have a few loads for the 7 RUM. Otherwise it will be handload only.

www.outdoorsuperstore.com is closing out there stock of 7 RUM ammo. They show one old load the 140 gr. Nosler Partition at around $40 per box. The suggestions I had all at least have the 140 gr. Core-Lokt Ultra. I did check out Conley precision and they have a ton of loads that run from about $30-70. This may be your best bet if you find an accurate load and can order the same ammo each time.

STOP! It is very important that you understand that you can not use 7mm rem mag ammunition. Beyond that, I suggest you learn to reload if you plan on keeping your ultra mags. They have quickly become difficult to find. They are terrific cartridges in my mind but nearly impossible to buy ammunition for.

I own a 7mm RUM and reload only. The factory loads are garbage IMO. The only thing I hate about reloading for it is all the powder!! 94 gr in my load.. holy COW!
