Winchester model 70 featherweight ?
Hey guys, I recently came across a new winchester m 70 wood stock with stainless barrel in .243 that looks to be a great gun.. It is brand new on the rack. How much should I expect to pay for this gun? I believe the sticker reads close to 800.00, Will this gun loose value since winchester closed shop? it is probably one of the nicer model 70's I have seen in a long time. Any advice is appreciated

Hi, it appears to have a very very nicely jeweled mauser style bolt. I am very particular about my rifles and the barrel MUST sit between the stock with equal spacing on either side. This one seems perfect. Do you think this rifle is worth it? I would have rather had a 25-06 but these are getting harder and harder to find. Think it will at least hold it's value?

I just bought a model 70 classic super gradein 300wsm for 1400.00 including tax befor Christmas. I've been offered 2000.00 for it and everyone i talk to say these guns will only increase in value since the New Haven,CT plant shut down. If you like the 243 caliber i would snatch her up! Good luck.

Is it a push feed or controlled feed? $800 still sounds too high for me. I would go with a Kimber if I was going to spend $800. Also you said it was not the cartridge that you wanted!!! I would pass. The featherweight is a nice rifle, but I feel the name is deceiving. It really isn't that much lighter. Shop a little, I think you can do better. Tom.

It sounds like a good deal. For now, those rifles are getting hard to find in that configuration and chambering. However, with Winchester in the process of opening up a plant in S.C., USA, then all of these current model 70s prices will plummet.

I was talking to a guy in the local gander mountain that works the gun section. he was saying to stay away from the current M 70's on the shelf due to disgruntled employees and then proceeded to show me why. There are alot of lousy guns on the shelf by winchester right now and I am starting to believe his statements. I can see how the employees just pushed these rifles out the door with no quality control in check. I still think that 243 is a sweet gun but he has me scared now

The gun is probably worth it, especially if you are interested inpossible future collector value. I always liked the 70 featherweight, and planned on buying one for my next rifle. I won't pay the collector value they are selling for now. That kind of money would find me buying Kimber or Sako.
