The safari grade is simply a matter of being slightly fancier, mostly in area of finish.
The bar is about 1279 times more reliable than the remington. Buy the darn thing and quit worrying. If you don't like it for any reason, send it to me and I will make sure it is properly disposed of.

I had a BAR safari grade in 30-06 (no boss). It was extremely accurate and shot most everything I tried in it sub MOA. Out of about 350 rounds at the range I never had a jam or problem of any kind.

The Safari grade retained the looks of the old style BAR, and i believe still has a steel reciever. The standard bar is now known as The Short Track and Long Track. They went with a more Euro look and Aluminium alloy reciever.

The biggest problem with the Remingtons was/is the gun owner unknowingly usingvery slightly largercartridges than Remington specs for their rifles. As long as I use cartridges in my Rem 7400 that are no longer than the Core-Lokts - plus keep the action CLP'd, I don't havea jam problem.
I own the Browning BAR .300WSM. Best gun in my gun cabinet.// and I own alot of rifles.
