Federal does not advertise if they do or do not, and does not tell you if its 24" or 20".

Keep talkin BA, show us what you know. Or read.
Are you really that stupid? It tells the barrel length right in the catalog on the right most column for every single load!
Your right, I didn't look hard at it, its useless data. I actually do something different than you, I actually shoot guns and see thier performance.

I tell you what. I have the chronos, I have the rifles. I will put my money up. You show me a 308 that kick out a 180gr bullet at 2800fps with hunting accuracy, thats 1MOA, and we will talk money.Youcan't do it.
This is the Federal High Energy 180gr. going 2740 @ 200 yards

So much for your theory that high energy loads aren't capable of "hunting accuracy" as you're so fond of saying.

So are you willing to bet say your little first gun there that 308 PSS against say 500 dollars, that one it has to reach over 2800fps as you said it would, and two, you can pull off .5MOA 2 times out of three (three shot groups)?

I'll probably be one of the few to tell you this, but I think the .308 is superior to the 30-06 for deer sized game. It has less recoil. It has a flatter trajectory. It travels only 100 to 150 fps slower. If you add the advantages vs. the disadvantages the .308 can't be beat. Also, there is a reason why it as an commercial Nato round is still used as THE sniper caliber of choice. Accuracy. You don't see too many 30-06 sniper rifles hanging around do you? Just my opinion.
Designated marksman in the military/police use the .308 because they'll be engaging a human, not a big game animal. Which is where you step it up to the 30-06.

I'm fairly confident I could make 2800 fps with a 180 grain bullet, in the .308 Winchester. You would, however, have to beat the bolt open with a large mallet

Seriously, I do have a safe load that will propell a 180 gr. Speer Grand Slam at 2760 out of my 24" Shilen .308 barrel. I use WW748 and Winchester Brass.

Tell your father in law that he writes the suckiest manual going. With the most inconsistent data going.
Again when arguments fail you result to personal attacks. It's sad. You're going down in flames so just keep talking.

No you don't that is impossible!! Oh wait it's becaues you have a Shilen barrel! NO way could your velocity even approach 2800 in a factory barrel! Even if it did there is no way in hell it could be capable of hunting accuracy!

The Barnes Manual show 2786 fps with the Barnes 180 XFB Coated bullet with H380 and 2782 with AA2700 with the same coated X bullet.
