a friend of mine has a winchester m 1894,38/55. serail # around 865000. where can he get shells for this gun ? or where can he find out what it worth? when i get time i will go look at it ,,maybe i'll buy it.

Don't know the exact URL, but a company called "The Old Western Scrounger" has .38-55 ammo and all kinds of other stuff. I'm not sure, but I think you can get .375 Winchester cases and use them to reload .38-55 (at reduced pressures!). Sounds like a very cool old rifle that should be a great short range deer gun (again).

I BELIEVE the .38/55 is still a cataloged item by WW. You can definitely use .375 Win. cases to load this round, just use .38/55 data. This is a great caliber for use with cast bullets!!
