ED,
You have purchased a quality alloy mount that will saddle your receiver, with care you have nothing to fear.

I have a Rem. 1100 semiauto with a Hastings rifled barrel. I put on a B square scope mount and a 2.5 power scope. I found if I tightened the mount too much the gun would not cycle properly. If I loosened it too much it was "wiggley" and the gun would not shoot good groups. A gunsmith applied a "bedding epoxy" between the mount and reciever and tightened it just right. Now I shoot 2 3/4 in. groups with Fedreral sabots at 100 yds.

Well just FYI The B square wont work and IMO POORLY designed. The quality of the fit was bad. There way too much movement for it ever to be accurate using there one pin setup. It was installed properly too. We took it to Gun Smith and he pretty much told me what I already suspected. Theres really not a good solution for problem since Im dealing with new 800$ shotgun.
Looks like Im gonna be using some truglo ventalated rib mount sights

Seems like my friend has an Aimpoint, Aimtech,????, on his and works fine.

Give Brownell's a call and see if they have one. If not they carry a scope mount to fit on your rib. Friend put one on his boy's 870 and works great.

If I'm worried about scratches or rust on a receiver, I rub on a good coat of Johnson's paste wax to the receiver and mount. Let it dry then glop on a heavy coat to both and then ease the mount on.
