Another way to center the reticle is to place the ocular end against a mirror and then while looking through the objective end adjust the turrets until the actual reticle and mirror image of it line up so that only one reticle is visible.

Personally, I've never liked those Leupold std. mounts. The dual dovetails would be my preference. Then again, I don't currently use Leupold mounts on any of my rifles, preferring Talleys instead.

Rammer. I have had to shim under the base a few times to zero a scope. It shouldn't take much a shim. If it was zeroed and lost its zero, then it would probably be something inside the scope.

Regardless of Brand name, anything made by humanes can malfunction.

I hate to hi-jack a thread, but my Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 on my Rugher 10/22 came out of zero, and it shoots 6" high now, and it is bottomed out for adjustments. Whats a guy do to fix this problem?

Ok Stubble, spit it out. You got my attention, I had intentions of buying the Kolpin gun boot this fall...

I had one fellow come to me for help after his gun began shooting so high that it could no longer be adjusted enough to rezero.Upon close examination,we discovered that the objective end of the scope was actually bent towards the barrel. After many questions,I gathered that he had been riding on extremely rough terrain with his atv with the rifle in a kolpin gun boot.I have also seen many cases where rifles carried in kolpin gun boots have had problems holding zero. The design of the kolpin gun boot is badly flawed in that unless you have a very long barrel, the scope will rest on the case longbefore the barrel reaches the end of the barrel channel. As a result the scope holds all of the guns weight, and absorbs all of the bumps and shocks that the atv endures.Thepart of the casewhere the scope will rest is angled as well so the case will try topush the scope objective down towards the rifle.

That’s not good. So what type of rifle rest would you suggest for an ATV...( sorry for the hi-jack )...

I strap my hard case across the rack.I have a pair of rubber rests on the rack and use nylon straps with quick release buckles,so it isn't a big deal to attach and free the case.I don't hunt off the atv ,so a few extra seconds in accessing my gun is not a big deal.

Stubble - The gun has never been in a gun carrier on a 4 wheeler. I'd also strongly advise against not using a Kolpin gun boot. My buddy and I we were hunting Nebraska 2 years ago and he made it 3 miles with his before his brand new Burris scope crosshairs went sideways/busted. Good thing I was packing mine the way that you described, before the hunt he was tryin to talk me into getting a gunboot, and I decided that the 80 some dollars would be better in fuel for the trip.

The problem with my scope came after I changed from CCI Mini Mags to the cheap Federal ammo found at Wally World. So, I can just shim it? Or do you guys think its the scope?

Rammer, you changed ammo, you changed velocity, and Bullistics, hate to tell you but those things change POI. I know I shoot stingers, and those compared to federal classics is about 6" at 100 yards.

I better expound on this a lil more. I changed ammo (which never makes more than an inch of difference in this gun) tried to zero it with the Federal ammo to no avail. Then I switched back to the CCI ammo, still wasn't wanting to zero (this is at 30 yards). Then I got some Remington ammo an tried, they all impacted 5-6" high at 30 yards, left to right is perfect. I might switch scopes and try it tonite, see whats going on.

The gun is setup like this. Weaver type bases, millet rings, Carbon fiber barrel, Hogue Over Molded stock, also has a Power Custom trigger job, and some other power custom accessories.
