problem with zeiss scope
I bought a zeiss conquest 4.5X14 for my 6mm remington and had the scope mounted at the store. I took the gun to the range to break it in and i am shooting almost 2 inches to the right. I was adjusting it to move left and it stopped. It ran out of adjustment. Does this sound like a problem with the scope? And has anyone dealt with zeiss before?

RE: problem with zeiss scope
It sounds like the mounts are not square on the rifle. What type of mounts are on the rifle?Do you have another scope to try on the rifle?

RE: problem with zeiss scope
If they are Leupold std mounts, then they didn't set up your windage correctly. They should have centered your crosshairs and adjusted the windage using the rear base. If you don't have these types of mounts, then sounds like you either have reciever out of line or bad mounts.

RE: problem with zeiss scope
I have had a similar problem with the same scope, but it was a mount problem and not a scope problem. I have 5 Conquests and never had a minutes trouble out of any of them. If it is the scope, send it back. They have a great warranty.

ORIGINAL: SCOTT78 I bought a zeiss conquest 4.5X14 for my 6mm remington and had the scope mounted at the store. Does this sound like a problem with the scope? And has anyone dealt with zeiss before? I don't know the range of adjustment on that scope, but if it was mounted correctly, you should NOT run out of clicks before you get zeroed. I think it is a mounting problem. The only two times I ever let someone else (store) mount a scope for me, they messed it up! Do your own mounting work! |

ORIGINAL: SCOTT78 Thanks for the sugestions. I really havent looked at it, i got married so not as much free time as i would like, but i am going to check it out tomorrow after work With those Leupold mounts, you're OK. Center the scope's internal windage adjustment by screwing it to the end in one direction (you're already there??), then count the number of clicks while turning the adjustment knob all the way to the end the other direction. Now click the knob back to the middle (one-half the total number clicks). Next, use the mount base's windage screws to boresight and center the reticle for windage using a collimator. Tighten both windage screws after boresighting. You should now have plenty of internal windage adjustmentavailable to finish up the zeroing with. |
RE: problem with zeiss scope
I hate to hi-jack a thread, but my Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14x40 on my Rugher 10/22 came out of zero, and it shoots 6" high now, and it is bottomed out for adjustments. Whats a guy do to fix this problem?
