S&W Revolver Problem
#1
I own a S&W model 36 .38 Special. It is the older snubnose model with a square butt. It was my brother in law's when he first got on the job 20 years ago.
Today at the range I went to cock the hammer for a single action shot. When I pulled the trigger nothing happened. If I pull the trigger and push the hammer forward it will drop but not when the trigger is pulled. I took the gun apart and cleaned it but the problem is still there.
Does anyone know what could be wrong with it. I was wondering if it is something I can fix instead of having it at the gunsmith for a month till he fixes it.
Thank you.

i'd take it to a smith. it's worth waitin ta get it fixed right. also remove the grips. check ta see if the mainspring ajustment screw is tight.
it's located at the bottom frontof the grip frame. it's the only screw there and should be tight against the mainspring (the flat arced metal inside the grip frame)
do not over tighten that screw. if this does not solve the problem it's time fer a pro.
