Default H&R Single Shot

I'm interested in buying a single shot 30.06 Ultra Comp H&R rifle model#SB2-836 I have several questions and was wondering does anyone here own one or know anything about the H&R rifles? Can the trigger be adjusted by a local gunsmith or does it have to be sent back to the factory? How solid is the scope dovetail mounts in the 30.06 caliber, are they as solid and reliable as the one and two piece steel rings and bases? Also are they accurate? I know thats alot of questions but i won't know if i don't ask. Thank You!

I have an H&R rifle in 45/70 Govt and 243 Win. As far as adjusting the trigger, I think a competent gunsmith should be able to handle it, however my trigger was fine out of the box. The scope mount is solid and hasn't given me any trouble. Both barrels are very accurate. I was especially surprised at the 45/70 which was shooting a golfball sized group at 100 yards. The other good thing about these rifles is that you can send them back to the factory to be fitted with an additional barrel at a very resonable cost. I am very happy with my H&R and plan on getting another one in the near future.

I have shot this rifle in several calibers .22 hornet .223 243 270 30-06 all shot well and were a good value. the triggers werent bad but i think any good gun smith could help them a little if your not comfortable with out of the box trigger.

I have a Handi-rifle in .223. The trigger doesn't seem to be that bad. I haven't been able to do any real groupins with it, as I've only been out shooting it twice and there was no bench rest around, but it doesn't see, to be that bad accuracy wise. I plan on getting a .44 mag barrel.

I've got a Ultra rifle in 450 Marlin. Put a Cabelas Alaska guide 2x7 on it 2wks ago, went out and sighted it in for the first time last weekend. It shot less than a 11/2 group at 100yds. The trigger wasn't all that bad, but could use a little help from a gunsmith. Zeak

Hey guys,I have heard on the H and R web board that if you send your run back to them, they will work on the trigger free of charge and then your warrenty wont be voided.
Ive got a .22 and a .243 on lay a way for my son and cant wait to put a muzzle loader barrel on it for myself next year and then maby a shot gun barrel also.
Its going to be good to have a son!!

Keylargo...You're right. I sent my 223 back and they lightened it considerably. It costs $20 for shipping/handling.

The groups went from 1.5" to well under an inch. Can't beat that for a measley $20.
